- Members must subscribe to and support the purposes of the American Financial Services Association.
- Members' business operations must be of high ethical standards.
- Members' operations and practices must comply in good faith with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Members must be willing to abide by AFSA Bylaws, Code of Ethics, and any and all of AFSA's Codes of Conduct, or practices which may have been adopted by AFSA for the good of the consumer credit industry.
- Members must pay all dues and fees when due.
- Members must be approved by the AFSA Board of Directors.
- AFSA does not represent Payday lending or title loan companies.
Corporate Membership Categories
Active Membership (Consumer Credit & Finance Companies) is available to companies actively engaged in providing financial services to consumers or small businesses or both in any state, possession, territory, or protectorate of the U.S. for at least one year.
This includes companies representing all markets in the consumer credit industry including: consumer and sales finance, vehicle finance/leasing, card issuers, mortgage and home equity lending and retail credit. Foreign companies shall have the option of choosing either active or foreign membership for their non-US. operations. Active Membership Application Form
Dues Annual dues for Active members are based on a percentage of gross income from consumer lending activities. This includes: interest, finance charge and service fee income from loans and leases, sales finance contracts, real estate loans, small business and agribusiness loans and leases determined in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles for the fiscal year of the member and all related subsidiaries ending in the previous calendar year. Industrial Bank Membership shall be available on an annual basis to any qualified industrial bank or industrial loan company that has been licensed to do business. Annual dues are based on asset size. If your assets are less than $15 billion, the dues fee is $15,000. For companies with $15-$49.9 billion in assets, the annual fee is $30,000. For companies with $50 billion or more in assets, the dues fee is $50,000 annually. Associate Membership (Industry Suppliers) is available to any qualified business entity that provides products and/or services to companies engaged in direct and/or indirect lending. Companies applying for Associate Membership must be in business for at least one year and approved by the AFSA Board of Directors. A company may not join solely as an Associate member if the firm qualifies as an Active member. However, Active member subsidiaries who are suppliers to the industry may also join as Associate members. Buyers Guide A primary benefit of Associate Membership is a complimentary listing in the online Buyer’s Guide , an open domain publication for members as well as non-members. Please complete and send the Buyer’s Guide Listing Form with your Application Form.
Commercial Membership (Commercial Finance Companies) is available to companies actively engaged in commercial finance who would not otherwise qualify as an Active member (consumer finance) Related : Commercial Finance Member Application Form | LIST OF COMMERCIAL MEMBERS
Affiliate Membership is for national, state, or local trade associations, (domestic or foreign) whose members are engaged in the extension of consumer credit or community debt counseling centers. Related: Affiliate Member Application Form | LIST OF AFFILIATE MEMBERS
